There's something almost mesmerising in the way the colors swirl in a glass marble. Whether its the play on colors or the fact that it almost seems like the colors are dancing, marbles have a certain magical way about them! Marbling is an art that must not remain confined to a glass ball. It should be incorporated into other items around our home and marbling is a technique that's fun and easy to take on. Not forgetting the fact that the end result is absolutely fabulous!
Here's a list of the things you'll require to get your marbling on:
- Nail Polish (Colors as per your choice)
- Plastic bucket or tub
- Water
- A stick or toothpick
- Matte Clear Nail Polish
Marbling is super easy! Read on to find out the few steps required to get this pretty look!
- Pour some room temperature water in the plastic tub. This temperature slows down the hardening process of the nail polish.
- Gently pour in the nail polish alternating between your preferred assortment of shades. Make sure you pour the nail polish from as low as possible otherwise it may sink. You want your nail polish floating in the water in swirls.
- Using a toothpick move the nail polish around to create a pattern. Start from the center and work your way outwards keeping it as loose as possible.
- Dip your item in the nail polished water and watch as the nail polish wraps itself around your item in an indentical spiralling pattern as was in the water. If there are gaps or you want additional layers you can repeat the process. Remember as with painting your toes or those impossible right hand fingers, nail polish remover will always come to your rescue in case of unwanted spots!
- Keep it for around half an hour allowing the nail polish pattern to dry.
- Cover with a coat of matte clear polish or spray to give your work a protective coating.
