Shades of Sakura

When dark skies turn to cloudless powder blue ones, chilly mornings into warm days, around the last few days of March a tiny white bud blushes as Sakura season sets upon us. With songs named after it, wars symbolizing it and crowds of people rushing to view it every year, the cherry blossom is a much awaited visitor to countries like Japan. From weeping blossoms that flow elegantly towards the floor to gorgeous trees with clusters forming canopies, the cherry blossom differs in varieties, colors, forms and shapes.
While some are white with spots of pink on them, others are icy pink growing a shade darker towards the stem. Interestingly, night sakura also termed yozakura in Japanese refers to the phenomenon of the changing shades of a blossom tree as the day progresses. From bright white in the sunlight, pale pink in the afternoon and an illuminated glow in the evening, the cherry blossom is indeed a magical flower!
Pale pink, cerise, magenta, peach and many more, sakura provides beautiful palettes and colour schemes for us to take inspiration from. Let's take a look!
